The ultimate touring ski challenge

Next Race: 19th March 2027

The Sellaronda is one of the most spectacular ski carousels in the world. Throughout winter, countless skiers complete the trip around the Sella massif and have a great time with their friends and families.
Once a year, however, a special event for serious sportsmen takes place: The Sellaronda Ski Marathon. On this special day, ambitious and well-trained touring ski enthusiasts embark on a race around the Sella as day turns into night – no lifts or motorization allowed! The total distance covered by the race is about 42km – just like a regular marathon. But the cold, darkness and elevation gain of over 2,700 meters arguably make the completion of the Sellaronda Ski Marathon an even more impressive feat.

For over 20 years, the rules of the Sellaronda Ski Marathon have been the same: You are only allowed touring skis and a headlamp, and must compete in teams of two participants. Other than that, you are on your own as you circle the Sella under a - hopefully - starry night!
